8 Wedding Photo Booth Ideas To Impress Your Guests

Wedding photo booths are becoming a staple at the reception. It isn’t that much of a surprise as they are always a popular activity for guests. They love dressing up and posing for fun snaps. It’s a much more memorable and immersive alternative to traditional wedding favours.

But with most weddings now using photo booths, it’s becoming harder to make the experience stand out and impress your friends and family. We decided to provide our top eight wedding photo booth ideas in order to help you wow your guests. From easy and DIY setups to magic mirror photo booths, you can get really creative.

If you’re planning your wedding day right now (which is likely, if you are reading this) and want to talk about wedding photo booth ideas, please do get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

1. Winter Wedding Photo Booth

When the colder months arrive, it is wise to embrace the style and weather. Candles, lanterns, pendant lighting and snow are great elements you can use to create a winter wonderland theme for your photo booth. Better yet, why not have your wedding guests stood behind or in front of a giant wreath?

If the weather is a bit wild outdoors and you are lacking space inside, consider hiring a bell tent or igloo dome to house your photo booth.

2. Vintage Wedding Photo Booth

If there’s one thing we love, it’s vintage themes! Your older guests will love to feel as if they’ve stepped back in time and a vintage selfie pod can help to give that sense of nostalgia with an old-school themed camera snapping photos of your guests in front of stunning backdrops.

When creating a theme for your wedding photo booth, be sure to provide suitable props that match the theme. Depending on what era you are trying to recreate, you might want to bring along some classic hats, scarves and props.

3. Floral Wedding Photo Booth

There’s nothing quite like a beautiful floral arrangement to provide a stunning backdrop for a wedding photo booth. You can either speak with your florist to arrange a floral display, build your own one using a coloured backdrop and artificial flowers, or simply hire a flower wall.

4. Neon Wedding Photo Booth

Possibly the quirkiest wedding photo booth idea on this list, but one that we don’t see too often. If you’re hosting an indoor wedding with lots of mood lighting, you can really spruce things up with a fun neon sign. They fit in well with summer and tropical themes, so be sure to surround the sign with lots of palm leaves.

5. Guest Book Wedding Photo Booth

Guest books are a tradition at weddings, but it can feel a bit non-inclusive if you have lots of kids at the wedding who can’t yet write. There are a plethora of alternative guest book ideas out there, but our favourite is to have a photo album.

With a magic mirror photo booth, guests can print their photos instantly and add them to your photo album, or upload them directly to social media if you have an online guest book. They can even sign the photo or leave a message before printing, or if you prefer a more traditional, hand-written touch, leave some space on each page for guests to add their messages.

6. Rustic Wedding Photo Booth

A lot of couples we’ve helped on their special day have held their wedding at a barn. So it feels only right that we should talk about what to do if you choose one of our preferred barn venues.

If you’re friendly with or know of a local carpenter, ask if they would be willing to give you their off-cuts from recent jobs. It can be hard for them to get rid of those pieces, so they’ll often let you have them for free. You can either build a DIY photo booth backdrop yourself, or pay them a small fee to do it for you, from these pieces.

Once that’s done, add some finishing touches like light up letters or a copper arch like the one you see above to make it your own experience and you’ve got a beautiful, rustic backdrop for selfies.

7. Intimate Wedding Photo Booth

All the wedding photo booth ideas we’ve mentioned so far require a lot of standing. But sometimes you do need to have a sit down. Sitting together on a cosy seat, like this red chesterfield sofa, can change the feeling of your wedding photos, giving a more intimate feel. It’s great if you have lots of families coming.

Warning: This sofa is so comfortable, your guests probably won’t want to stand up again!

8. Peep Through Photo Booth

Peep through boards are always a smash hit with the public at both at a wedding and a local pier. You can hire a peep board to suit any theme for your wedding, from traditional seaside themes to Edwardian wedding caricatures.

If you have kids present, these are a great way to keep them entertained during the wedding reception.
